Crook Nursery SchoolNewsHamsterley Forest TripWe had a fabulous time at Hamsterley Forest. We made Easter hats and had a parade. We looked for the Easter rabbit, we made our own picnic and we made boats to sail down the river. We came home feeling very tired after our busy day. Resource boxes for use at homeWe now have a resource lending scheme where children may borrow themed boxes of equipment from school to use at home. Themes cover a range of topics including Explorers, Baking, Princesses, Hospitals, Farm, Number songs, Trains and many more. If you would like to borrow a box please see any member of staff. If the one you would like is unavailable your child's name will be added to a waiting list. We hope you and your child enjoy using these resources and if you think of any ways we can improve them please let us know. World Book dayWe celebrated World Book day on March 4th by coming to nursery in fancy dress. We had a lovely parade of costumes including police officers, princesses and pirates and many more. The staff and children had made several cosy corners for reading. We had an 'under and over the sea' area with stories about fish, sea creatures and pirates. We had a 'deep dark forest' with animals stories and a sparkly corner with fairy and princess stories to read. The children and staff really enjoyed their day. Visit from Zoolab, Feb 5th 2010We had a visit from Zoolab. They brought lots of interesting creatures for us to see. We saw Colin the cockroach, Gary the African Land snail, Kermit the tree frog, Medusa the corn snake. Cocoa the chocolate millipede, Incy the Tarantula and Bubble the rat (Squeak had been left at home). We could hold or stroke some of the creatures but others had to stay in their containers because they were too delicate to be handled. We learned lots of interesting facts about the creatures and it was good to be able to see them so closely. Christmas PartiesWe all had a lovely time at our Christmas party, we played lots of games and after our tea Santa Clause came and gave everyone presents. Outdoor DayWe all had a super outdoor day on Wednesday with our mums, dads, and granparents. We had lots of outdoor activities,we looked for hidden fireworks, made splashy fireworks on a groundsheet and made music. The best bits were having hotdogs and hot chocolate. Before we went home we had a wheelbarrow race then we all watched a firework display on the whiteboard. Halloween PartyWe all enjoyed our halloween party. We dressed up in our costumes and bobbed apples, we tried to eat them hanging from a string but it was hard.
Teddy Bears picnicThe children invited their Mums and dads to school for a Teddy Bear's Picnic. They made the sandwiches and cooked banana bread for everyone to enjoy. |
